For 2023 graduate of South University’s online programs, Tammie Dattalo, earning a bachelor’s degree has been life changing. It’s given her a new outlook on her life and her future.
“When I began my education journey late in life after many pitfalls, the staff here taught me to believe in myself again,” says Tammie. “If it weren't for that, I would not be headed in the right direction and prepared to begin my journey as a graduate.”
Tammie found South University through an online search. The school stood out in her research, and Tammie decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree program online. “I chose Psychology because I love the mystery of the human mind,” she shares.
South University’s Psychology program is designed to help students like Tammie build a broad foundation of knowledge and skills for entry-level roles in psychology or advanced study in the behavioral sciences. Students take foundational courses on topics such as abnormal psychology, human growth and development, cognitive psychology, social psychology, and more. Through their choice of electives, students also have the opportunity to customize their degree to match their interests in the field.
As an online student, Tammie felt strongly supported by South University faculty and staff. “I was given all the necessary info to help me earn my degree, and the staff was more than willing to make sure I was confident in what I had learned,” she says. “If I had any questions, they were answered promptly.”
Beyond helping her grow her knowledge and professional skills, Tammie appreciated that the University was invested in her as a person and believed in her potential. “I made many bad decisions in life, and I battled addiction and prison,” she shares. “When I met the staff at South University, I was treated with respect and not allowed to let my past dictate my future. I thank South University for helping me find myself again.”
For anyone considering pursuing their education later in life—no matter what has happened in their past, Tammie encourages them to take the leap. “What are you waiting for? This is your life and with this college you will be prepared to reach your goals and more,” she says. “If I can earn my degree, then so can you. South University is a great place to learn.”
