South University Grants
South University offers a variety of grants to help students fund their education. Check below to determine what grants you might be eligible for and the process for applying for those grants. Each grant has a Memorandum of Understanding which lists all initial and continuing eligibility requirements.

Limited Time Offer Grants
The following grants are available for eligible students who enroll and begin classes between August – December 2024. Contact the Admissions Office today to learn more about these grants and how you can get started at South University.
Student Success Grant 2024
The Student Success Grant is available to eligible students who were unable to complete their degree program and return to South University and begin classes between August 13, 2024 – November 26, 2024.
Eligible full-time students can receive a maximum amount of $3,375 toward their balance owed to the University.
For undergraduate students, the grant is capped at $1,625 for half-time to three-quarter-time (6 to 11 credits per quarter/term) enrollment. Those attending less than half-time (less than 6 credits) are not eligible for this grant.
For graduate students, full-time enrollment (8 or more credits) is required to receive the full grant amount. Graduate students attending less than full time (4 to 7 credits) have their grant capped at $1,625.
The Anesthesia Science, Physician Assistant, and Pharmacy programs are excluded from the Student Success Grant. See full eligibility and conditions requirements in the Student Success Grant Memorandum of Understanding.
New Student Grant
South University’s New Student grant is available for eligible, new students enrolled in undergraduate programs by November 30, 2024. The grant applies $508 per quarter for each student’s first Academic Year of Enrollment. The academic year is the first three quarters/terms of enrollment.
This merit-based grant can be combined with the 125-Year Celebration Grant and the Path to Education Grant so long as the student meets the criteria but cannot be combined with any other university institutional grants and scholarships or corporate education partnerships (CEPW).
125-Year Celebration Grant
As part of South University’s 125 years of teaching, the 125-Year Celebration Grant is designed for new undergraduate students enrolling and beginning classes between August 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. This grant offers $125 each quarter for the student’s first academic year of enrollment, up to $375. The academic year is the first three quarters or term of enrollment.
This grant may only be combined with the New Student Grant and Path to Graduation Grant, so long as the student also meets the criteria for those two grants. It may not be combined with other institutional grants and scholarships or corporate education partnerships (CEPW).

Start Your Education Right
High School Grants
South University will now offer new Local High School Grants for all eligible high school, GED and Home School graduates to receive help with tuition and fees to make higher education more accessible*.
To qualify for the Local High School Grants, you must be a graduate of an eligible county high school, GED or Home Schooling as well as a first-time college student (no prior post-high school college enrollment or credits; high school dual-enrollment students are eligible), and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 at high school graduation. To continue receiving the grant after your first term, you must maintain eligibility.**

Path to Graduation Grant
South University’s Path to Graduation Grant is awarded to both incoming new freshman and undergraduate students for continuous full-time enrollment for ground campuses and on-line. Nursing – RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not eligible for this grant.
Incoming new freshman are eligible for a grant amount of $575. Students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 or higher each term.
Incoming students who have at least 36 credits are eligible to receive the grant amount equal to the cost of one credit. Requires continuous, full-time enrollment for two consecutive quarters earning the grant in the subsequent quarter.
This merit-based grant can only be combined with the New Student Grant and 125 Year Celebration Grant. It may not be combined with other institutional grants and scholarships or corporate education partnerships (CEPW).

Graduate Academic Merit Scholarship
South University’s Academic Merit Scholarship reward graduate students for academic excellence and help lower the cost of enrollment for ground campuses and on-line . The amount of the scholarship is equal to $50 per credit hour. To continue receiving the Academic Merit Scholarship, students must establish and maintain a South University cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. The initial cumulative South University GPA calculation is established after 2 quarters in the program. All graduate programs including certificate programs; excluding Master of Science in Physician Assistant, Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia Science, and the Doctor of Pharmacy programs.

Pharmacy Grants
HBCU Graduate Pharmacy Grant
For Pharmacy students at South University’s Savannah campus, the HBCU grant offers HBCU graduates a disbursement of $10,000 evenly distributed across the first two quarters of enrollment. Eligible students must be a graduate from a partner HBCU, a new student in South University’s School of Pharmacy, and continuously enrolled as a full-time student with a GPA of 3.5 for the first two quarters of enrollment. After the second quarter of enrollment, eligible students can transition into Continuing Eligibility by remaining a continuously enrolled full-time student with a GPA of 3.5 at the end of each quarter to receive a $1,200 grant for quarters 3-12. The total grant is capped at $22,000 for eligible students.

Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant – New Student
New students to South University’s School of Pharmacy can apply for the Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant. Eligible students must be continuously enrolled as a full-time student and grant amounts disbursed over the first two quarters of enrollment will vary depending on the student’s GPA.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 to receive an $8,000 disbursement.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 to 3.499 to receive a $5,000 disbursement.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.249 to receive a $3,000 disbursement.
Eligible students can transition to a Continuing Eligibility by remaining a continuously enrolled as a full-time student in the pharmacy program, maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA at the end of every quarter to receive a quarterly $750 disbursement up to $7,500 total.

Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant – Continuing Pharmacy Students
For continuously enrolled full-time students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at South University’s Savannah, eligible students can receive a quarterly disbursement for $750, up to $7,500 total. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 at the end of each quarter to qualify for the grant disbursement.

Active Duty Grants
Active Duty Grant
South University offers the Active Duty Grant to help our active military students achieve a more affordable education. The grant may be applied to the undergraduate and graduate level degree programs for eligible students. Those wishing to apply for the Active Duty Grant must be serving on Active Duty, drilling in the National Guard, or drilling in the Reserves in order to qualify.

International Scholarship
International Student Academic Merit Scholarship
South University offers the International Student Academic Merit Scholarship for eligible international students pursing Graduate level degree programs. For more information about South University’s International admissions, please visit the International Admissions page.
The International Student Academic Merit Scholarship seeks to lower the cost of enrollment into the following graduate programs: the Master of Business Administration program (MBA), the Master of Science in Information Systems program (MSIS), or the Master of Nursing Science program (MSN). The scholarship amount is equal to $50 per credit hour taken for eligible students.
Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must be fully accepted into their program; to continue to qualify for this scholarship, students must maintain a South University cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
