Nicole Reading

2023 South University, West Palm Beach Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate Nicole Reading is confident she chose the right school to help her embark on her new career.* “South University prepared me with strong clinical skills that made my transition from student to nurse a smoother one,” shares Nicole.

Nicole first learned about South University by word of mouth. Several of her friends are nurses who had studied at the school and enjoyed their experience. After enrolling and starting classes, Nicole became even more confident in her choice.

“Nursing is a work of the heart, and to be in a place where other professors and students feel the same makes studying easier,” she says. “The connections to the faculty and staff are forever. Even after graduation, having people follow up and check on you shows this is a university that cares.”

While at South University, Nicole did work-study and joined several organizations. For the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA), she served as the chapter treasurer, second vice president, and first vice president. As part of the NSNA, she helped plan and participated in events such as delivering Easter baskets to children in local hospitals. Nicole was also a member of the Leadership U Honor Society and the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

Nicole had to pause her studies partway through for personal reasons, but she returned and finished her degree in June 2023. “I was able to pick right up right where I left off,” says Nicole. “The university understands life happens, especially as a mother of two children, but I came back stronger than ever.”

After completing her BSN, Nicole took a few months to spend time with her children and plan her next steps for education and career. During this period, she also studied for the NCLEX-RN. She passed the exam on her first attempt and soon became an RN at a local hospital. Nicole has also decided to continue her studies and returned to South University in January 2024 to start the Master of Science in Nursing with a Specialization in Nurse Educator program online. We’re so excited to welcome her back and to help her pursue her goals!
