SAVANNAH, Ga. - May 21, 2024 - South University, an independent institution of higher education with 11 campus locations across the United States and online course offerings for students nationwide, announced today the appointment of three new members to its board of managers. The South University board of managers is now made up of eight members who hold leadership positions in their respective professional fields in different cities across the country. 

The new additions to the university’s governing board are: Bradley Talbert, CEO of Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA; Dr. Brock  Haas, the director of Eagle Ridge Conference Center & Resort at Hinds Community College; and attorney and entrepreneur Steven Gordon.

“I’m thrilled to welcome the new members of South University’s board of managers. I trust that their diverse backgrounds, spanning health care, business, and law, will contribute significantly to the successes of our community and the future of our institution,” said South University Chancellor Dr. Steven K. Yoho.

South’s board of managers is charged with charting the direction of the university and guiding expansion of its course offerings, corporate partnerships, and other resources aimed at strengthening the student experience.

  • Bradley (Brad) S. Talbert, FACHE - Appointed CEO of Memorial Health in Savannah in 2023, Talbert presided over the hospital’s successful achievement of Level 1 trauma center verification. He holds the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) credential. Talbert previously served as CEO of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.
  • Dr. Brock Howard Haas - Currently serving as the Director of Eagle Ridge Conference Center & Resort at Hinds Community College, Dr. Haas boasts 15 years of diverse leadership experience in academia and business and holds a PhD from Jackson State University.
  • Steven Gordon - The principal of Gordon Law, Gordon specializes in civil and criminal litigation and high-stakes negotiations. Previously, as an entrepreneur in biotechnology, he co-founded a NYSE-listed company, secured FDA approval for an internally developed drug, and oversaw its $2 billion sale in 2020.  

South University’s decision to expand the board follows several years of record high enrollment and growth. South University now educates over 11,000 students in fields such as nursing, pharmacy, and business administration.
