South University is proud to support local Tampa Bay residents by working with Advent Health to help administer the COVID-19 vaccine locally through help from our staff and nursing students to 700 pre-registered Florida residents.
Dr. Pamela Wright, Nursing Program Director for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program worked closely with Marva Green, Advent Health Nurse Educator and Kathy Ownby, RN, Advent Health Vaccine Coordinator to offer our team’s service to support the vaccine roll-out.
Dr. Wright shared her great pride to help support, “this unique opportunity to help protect our community’s by assisting in the vaccination of seniors age 65 years and older. I am very proud of the students and applaud their commitment. It’s an honor to support Advent Health and an extraordinary opportunity for South University BSN faculty and student to be a part of this historic effort”.
President Jim McCoy of the South University, Tampa campus and Orlando off-campus instructional site, shared in the excitement and the commitment to the Tampa Bay community “We are excited to support this next phase of vaccinations in order to help protect even more of our community. We recognize the urgent need to get vaccines to our community members, so we are working with our staff and with community partners to safely and efficiently ramp up our vaccination efforts.”
