As a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Jennifer Stockwell is committed to delivering preventative healthcare and working with her patients to implement practices that better their well-being. To do so, she’s applying skills she learned in her nursing program at South University. Jennifer is a 2022 graduate of South University’s online programs, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner.1
Today, Jennifer works as an FNP in a primary care practice that she joined in the summer of 2023. She previously worked in long-term care, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. While in the emergency department, Jennifer worked in triage and served as a charge nurse. As part of that role, she completed diversity and compassionate leadership programs. She has also served as a travel nurse.
Jennifer was driven to earn her MSN FNP degree by the opportunity to expand her nursing practice, grow her expertise, and do more for her patients. “I am passionate about helping patients improve their quality of life,” she shares.
Jennifer found South University through researching FNP programs online. From the admissions process to graduation, Jennifer was pleased with her overall experience with the school and its staff. “The program was adult learner friendly and I felt supported by the faculty,” she says.
In South University’s MSN FNP program, Jennifer completed online courses in areas such as nursing research, health policy, health promotion, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, advanced health and physical assessment, and more. She also practiced her skills by completing clinical rotations2 in the field.
For other nurses who are thinking about advancing their education and earning their MSN at South University, her advice is simple: “Go for it.”
