South University offers a variety of grants to help students fund their education. Check below to determine what grants you might be eligible for and the process for applying for those grants.  Each grant has a Memorandum of Understanding which lists all initial and continuing eligibility requirements.

High School Grants


South University will now offer new Local High School Grants for all eligible high school, GED and Home School graduates to receive help with tuition and fees to make higher education more accessible*.

To qualify for the Local High School Grants, you must be a graduate of an eligible county high school, GED or Home Schooling as well as a first-time college student (no prior post-high school college enrollment or credits; high school dual-enrollment students are eligible), and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 at high school graduation. To continue receiving the grant after your first term, you must maintain eligibility.**

* Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
**To maintain eligibility for High School Grants, additional measures are required and will be outlined by the student’s Financial Aid Advisor .

Path to Graduation Grant


South University’s Path to Graduation Grant is awarded to undergraduate students for continuous full-time enrollment for ground campuses and on-line.  The grant amount is equal to the cost of one credit hour per quarter. Requires continuous, full-time enrollment for two consecutive quarters earning the grant in the subsequent quarter. Students attending South University via a teach out or transfer agreement will not be eligible for this offering. (Nursing – RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not eligible for this grant).

Graduate Academic Merit Scholarship


South University’s Academic Merit Scholarship reward graduate students for academic excellence and help lower the cost of enrollment for ground campuses and on-line . The amount of the scholarship is equal to $50 per credit hour. To continue receiving the Academic Merit Scholarship, students must establish and maintain a South University cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. The initial cumulative South University GPA calculation is established after 2 quarters in the program. All graduate programs including certificate programs; excluding Master of Science in Physician Assistant, Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia Science, and the Doctor of Pharmacy programs.

Get Back on Track with the
Student Success Grant


The Student Success Grant is designed for returning South University students in eligible undergraduate programs to help them pursue their degree.

Full-time students may qualify for a grant of up to $3,000

Part-time students may qualify for a grant of up to $1,500

Pharmacy Grants


HBCU Graduate Pharmacy Grant

For Pharmacy students at South University’s Savannah campus, the HBCU grant offers HBCU graduates a disbursement of $10,000 evenly distributed across the first two quarters of enrollment. Eligible students must be a graduate from a partner HBCU, a new student in South University’s School of Pharmacy, and continuously enrolled as a full-time student with a GPA of 3.5 for the first two quarters of enrollment. After the second quarter of enrollment, eligible students can transition into Continuing Eligibility by remaining a continuously enrolled full-time student with a GPA of 3.5 at the end of each quarter to receive a $1,200 grant for quarters 3-12. The total grant is capped at $22,000 for eligible students.

Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant – New Student

New students to South University’s School of Pharmacy can apply for the Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant. Eligible students must be continuously enrolled as a full-time student and grant amounts disbursed over the first two quarters of enrollment will vary depending on the student’s GPA.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 to receive an $8,000 disbursement.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 to 3.499 to receive a $5,000 disbursement.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.249 to receive a $3,000 disbursement.

Eligible students can transition to a Continuing Eligibility by remaining a continuously enrolled as a full-time student in the pharmacy program, maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA at the end of every quarter to receive a quarterly $750 disbursement up to $7,500 total.

Pharmacy Academic Student Success Grant – Continuing Pharmacy Students

For continuously enrolled full-time students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at South University’s Savannah, eligible students can receive a quarterly disbursement for $750, up to $7,500 total. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 at the end of each quarter to qualify for the grant disbursement.
